Are you considering bringing your group to one of the 3 mid-winter retreats this year but have some questions? Hopefully this will help. If you have a question that is not answered here, please e-mail Leanne Johnston.
I want to attend Mid-Winter #2/3 but my group did not reserve spots during group registration. Can I still go?
Due to the incredible success of group registration, we have closed mid-winters #2 & 3. They are only open to those who reserved spots during group registration. Mid-Winter #1 is going to be awesome and is still accepting registrations!
What is the schedule for the retreat?
Mid-Winter #1 – Registration opens at 10am on Saturday, February 8, 2014 and concludes at 11am on Sunday morning the 9th.
Mid-Winter #2 & 3 – Registration opens at 7pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 and concludes at 11am on Sunday morning the 23rd.
What makes the mid-winters different?
Mid-Winter #1 is a one-night retreat at Glen Lake Camp. It will have a unique band, speaker, and small groups. Mid-Winter #2 is also at Glen Lake and will have a different band and speaker, but will also have small groups. Mid-Winter #3 will take place at Central UMC in Waco. This mid-winter will have a band and speaker, but the primary focus will be on serving the neighborhood in Waco. All three mid-winter retreats will utilize the same curriculum centered around being the church.
How much do they cost?
Mid-Winter #1 – $110*
Mid-Winters #2 & 3 – $135*
* If your group reserved spots using group registration before December 1st, the cost is $90/$115.
This cost is for students and adults. A limited number of scholarships are available if requested before January 1, 2014. All funds are due by February 1st. All funds are non-refundable, but are transferable.
What is included in that cost?
Meals, a t-shirt, curriculum, worship, supplies, and lodging is included in this cost.
Who is leading the small groups?
Each group will need to provide a number of small group leaders based on the number of students you bring. Curriculum will be available after the first of the year to all small group leaders. You will have access to people who can help answer questions and facilitate the small group. If you are interested in being a small group leader, please contact Leanne Johnston.
In addition, each small group needs at least 2 adults that are committed to attending the small group. They can lead and participate however they feel comfortable, but they must attend each session. This is a requirement for our Safe Sanctuaries policy. Please prepare the adults that will be coming to Mid-Winter for this reality.
What will we be doing at Mid-Winter?
Mid-Winter is all about growing closer to God, getting to know other young people, and having a great time. We will play games, worship, read the Bible, learn from our friends, eat, and sleep. You should be prepared to make friends with other youth and adults from around the Central Texas Conference.
How many adults do I need to bring?
To comply with our Safe Sanctuaries policy, each group is required to bring at least 2 adults for every 10 students. If your group includes both boys and girls, you must bring at least one male and one female adult. Adults must have a background check on file with your church.
More information will be added here as it is planned!
