Attending conferences as continuing education is a fantastic way for your church to invest in young people. There are lots of conferences to choose from and include conferences FOR young people and conferences for those who WORK with young people. If you are attending one this year that is not included on this list, please feel free to send it to me so that I can add it. If money would prohibit you from attending a conference, please consider applying for a scholarship from the Central Texas Conference. A limited number of scholarships are given each year and are contingent on asking your church to support you first.
- Exploration 2013 – is a three-day event for young adults age 18-26 to hear, discern, and respond to God’s call to ordained ministry and to explore their gifts for service as a deacon or elder in The United Methodist Church.
- Lead Conference – In the midst of talk of the “death of the church,” vital, creative, life-giving communities exist around the world, in communities large and small. The LEAD conference has always strived to shine a spotlight on this emerging church, not as a hope for the future but as a recognition of God’s work in the world here and now.
- CrunchTime at Texas A&M University – a weekend retreat focused on spiritually preparing students’ transition to college with Christ for high school Juniors and Seniors.
